Hello trumpets. First and foremost i'd like to congratulate each one of you for our achievement ! x) The months of hardwork had been paid off. Everything happened so fast yesterday, from the tuning room to the moment we entered the hall. Butterflies in the stomach and 'kanchiong-ness' was definitely present and the next thing you realised, SYF is over.

The moments on stage was nerve-wrecking, of course, well to me it was, but i'm sure many of us were recalling of what Mr Lim, Mr Benny and Yonglin have been advising and consistently emphasizing on. I'm sure the moment Mr Lim conducts, the pressure is being drifted away cause we know as a section that we don't want to disappoint the band neither do we want to bring our section down. Honestly, i think it was quite impressive that no one was really sticking out as an individual which i believe the words from Mr Lim, 'Section Sound' is constantly playing in our mind. If we could do it during that 15mins on stage why not on the ordinary practises ? Stop taking things for granted. Last minute 'kanchiong-ness' to solve doubts is not the way to succeed.

I believe in,
"There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, and learning from failure."

Never give up your right to be wrong, because then you will lose the ability to learn new things. Learn to embrace and comfront your fears. I think the section is lack of confidence, built up your self-esteem ok? : ) Don't be afraid.

On the flip note, my point of writing this post is to deliver my warmest gratitude to the section for all these years.

I was being appointed as the section leader in year 2006 and boy, was i honoured and ecstatic. Being the section leader, i've learned alot of qualities. I've learned what's the true meaning Leadership. Leadership qualities it is. Basically, leadership qualities like self-knowledge, commitment, willingness to look to others for support, being open to change, and a desire to go the extra mile.

You guys have basically been tolerant with me throughout these years eh? Am i right to say that? xD It's not easy to fulfill this duty which i've been holding on. Furthermore, i've my exco post to juggle along with. But, i did my best i could to bond the section, to sacrifice time despite my tight schedule to have as much sectionals, together with Yonglin of course :D and to practically message all of you often at night, for reminders. It was all direly exhausting but i somehow managed to survive! Why? It's becase of you guys of course! I guess respect plays a really important factor between each individuals. Be it with posts or without, respect-to-be-respected vibe should always be with you.

Now, my journey in band is going to an end soon. Whoever the next section leader and assistant section leader is, take the section with pride, integrity and dignity. For the rest of you, Jiayou! It's not the end, there's still events for y'all, i supposed. Last but of course not least, my dearest sec ones, practise hard all right? Seniors make time to hold sectionals with them! x) JIAYOUUU!

"ONE BAND ! ONE HEART ! ONE SOUND !" will forever be etched in my mind.

Love,
hanis

ABOUT THE BAND

First started in the year 1982 when the school just move to the new campus at jalan tenaga at that time the strength in the section is 7 the conductor at that time is Mr Samad, at that time the section only learn very few songs for example One Moment In Time,The Peaks of Otter,Yellow Stone,Wildwood overture.WE participated in the school musical by playing 2 songs One Moment in Time and Dawn Chorus Overture. In year 2001, we changed due to the change of principal. Our condutor at that time was the late Mr Hashim, after he took over the band, the band was changed into a military band, the section had a strength of only 4 members and we were given a chance to participate in the Chingay2002. A few sad things happened in 2002. In 2003-2004 we are lucky to have Mr Lim Yean Hwee as our conductor, he again changed the band into a symphonic band. Under his baton, the band improved tremendously & of course the section improved too.In the year 2003, trumpet section have a strength of 7 and by 2004, 11.We learned many Pieces within these 2 yrs and participated in many of the schools event and public performances. We had a FIRST combine school concert at NYP in the year 2002 and a charity concert in 2004.The band had our very FIRST own concert in VCH on 3rd Dec 2004. On the April 13th 2005, our first time participating in SYF, we managed to clinch a gold. Followingly, another Gold award for SYF in 2007. *
